Drink fresh and slightly cooled tea

Very hot, burning tea might damage your digestive system and promote throat cancer. In the fresh tea are the best amount of vitamins and antioxidants while over the time they reduce through oxidation. Also old tea can contain bacteria.

Use the same leaves in moderation

Brewing the same leaves reduces the tea’s good benefits and drawn out the cancerous substances (usually pesticides).

Avoid very concentrated tea

Too strong tea has massive amount of caffeine and polyphenols that can cause indigestion, tremors and heart palpitations.

Don’t use tea and medications or supplements that can conflict with each other

The some compounds in green tea may have unpleasant effect interacting with certain substances. Before using ask your doctor or pharmacist if the medications do not have side effects using with green tea.

Don’t drink too much

It is recommended to drink not more than 6 cups of green tea per day, preferable 3 – 4 cups for best health benefits.

Drink one hour before or after meals

Drinking tea with meals can block absorption of nutrients. Some compounds in the tea can slow down the absorption of calcium and non-heme iron. To reduce this effect put the milk in your tea.

Avoid tea with alcohol

Drinking tea with alcohol can be harmful to your kidney system and sexual organs. Drink green tea without any extras or pour a bit of milk in it to reduce the effect of caffeine.

Although the green tea contains less amount of the caffeine than coffee or black tea, some people are sensitive even to small levels. To avoid this problem drink decaffeinated green tea or buy high quality Japanese green tea such as gyokura. This type of green tea contains higher amounts of theanines that have a calming effect on the brain and reduce the effects of the caffeine.
